The End Of The Rainbow - Richard & Linda Thompson

Richard and Linda Thompson, The End of the Rainbow

Written by Richard Thompson, released on I want to see the bright lights tonight in 1974.

A great song and one of my favorites, but also the mother of pessimist songs, containing upbeat lines like this:

There's nothing at the end of the rainbow. There's nothing to grow up for anymoreTycoons and barrow boys will rob youAnd throw you on the side

The brutal reality haiku

If it's not fake, it's
most likely war, injustice,
fraud or betrayal.

– Leonard Blumfeld (© 2017)

Note
A somewhat pessimistic view of what’s going on in the world.
What brought that on?
Looking at the news, I suppose, suppressing the few hopeful items that are reported on now and then as well as advertising, which suggests that everything is fun and games if you buy the right products.
