Not quite polka

A late polka entry for Inspire Me Thursday. I like the liveliness and lightness of polka dot patterns and thought about creating something with polka dots all along, without ever finding the right combination of spare time and right mood. Today I pulled out the roll of a painting I'd started earlier this year. Noting that it had some round elements that had polka dot potential, I went to work with black for enhancement. The whole painting measures about 100 x 180 cm and is acrylic on orange kraft paper.

Wow that looks good. . .I never understtod modern art ,But loved the little polka dotted men climbing up (sorry if the painting has no little blue men..I have an overactive imagination). .I have always loved polka dots too .esp polka dotted clothes (alrite alrite polka dotted dresses are a way out of fashion but still love them :D)

It's neat to know this little (big!) beauty is on humble Kraft paper. So many painters are self-conscious about whether or not their materials are archival. Must be the reason there is so much constipated painting in existence, hee! i do like the scumbled quality of the paint against the juicier passages, and the little white beaked figures between the blue pairs make this feel like a line of dancing partners - the polka dancers.
